AI mock interviews, out loud, with a recruiter who has read your CV

An AI recruiter reads your CV and the job ad, asks the questions this role calls for and follows up when an answer stays vague. It is interview practice you speak, just like on the day. Forty seconds after the call, your report quotes your sentences and shows what to fix.

Typing your answers doesn’t prepare you to speak

When you type an answer, you can fix it before you send it. In an interview, nobody gives you that time. A chat-based mock interview or a list of questions trains your writing, not your voice.

What a recruiter hears that a chat never sees

“Um”, “kind of”, a pace that speeds up, an answer that stops halfway, a ten-second silence: the recruiter hears them in the first minute. NELO counts them in your call transcript and tracks them from one session to the next.

Why your AI recruiter never says “great answer”

A “great answer!” feels good but teaches nothing, and no recruiter says it in an interview. NELO’s recruiters follow up like real ones: “Okay.”, “And the result?”. The assessment comes afterwards, in the report, with your own words.

“Before you start” screen: the three points Karim will dig into and the questions to ask him

A mock interview written for this job: your CV, the job ad, the weak spots to defend

A bank of generic questions prepares you for an average interview. Yours is for one specific role, and the recruiter will have read your CV.

What the recruiter will dig into before the first question

Before the call, NELO holds your CV against the job ad and shows you the three points the recruiter will probe. On a real junior full-stack developer job ad, Karim Haddad picked:

  1. No development experience or coding stack listed on the CV.
  2. A career change, from marketing and project management to a junior developer role.
  3. Strong numbers (+18% conversion, a €1.2M budget) where personal contribution versus team effort needs clarifying.

Follow-ups when the role, the action or the result is missing

A vague answer doesn’t get through: the recruiter asks what you did yourself, how, and what changed. Exactly where a real recruiter would push.

In four steps

  1. Import your CV

PDF, Word, photo or text. It is anonymised on your iPhone before anything is sent.

  2. Add the job ad

Paste the text, import a file or a link. NELO pulls out the role’s real requirements.

  3. Take the mock interview

5, 10 or 15 minutes, spoken, with the recruiter you choose.

  4. Read your report

A score out of 100 and a stronger answer for every question.

Five interviews to practise: HR screen, behavioral (STAR method), technical, pressure, targeted

  • Targeted interview

Built on your CV and one specific job ad. 5, 10 or 15 min.

  • HR screen

Background, motivation, availability, salary: the first call. 5 or 10 min.

  • Behavioral

Real situations, told with the STAR method. 10 or 15 min.

  • Technical

Your reasoning on subjects from your field. 10 or 15 min.

  • Under pressure

Tight follow-ups and objections, to keep your thread. 10 or 15 min.

  • Introduce yourself in 2 minutes

The warm-up, free once, with its own report.

Your report in 40 seconds: a score, your sentences quoted, a stronger answer

Every remark is tied to a sentence you actually said. The report describes what can be observed: structure, an example, a number, a link to the role. The scoring rubric for each interview type comes from documented research.

Score and level

A score out of 100, six dimensions rated 1 to 4 and a confidence level.

Question by question

Answered or off-topic, signals present and missing, and a stronger wording built only from your own facts.

Fillers and pace

“Um”, “like”, “you know” counted in the transcript, plus your pace in words per minute.

Spoken debrief

The recruiter tells you, in their own voice, the three things they took away.

The day before an interview: a 10-minute mock interview, then the one answer to fix

Nerves drop once an answer has been said out loud at least once. Here is the rhythm that works as the interview gets close.

  1. 3 days before

    A 10-minute targeted interview

On the actual job ad. Read the report and note the two questions where an example or a result was missing.

  2. The day before

    Redo only those questions

Two minutes per question with the same recruiter, then compare before and after. Finish with a 2-minute “Introduce yourself”.

  3. That morning

    Replay the debrief

The recruiter repeats the three things they took away. Reread the three questions to ask them at the end.

Interview tomorrow? Do the 10-minute mock interview tonight and redo your weakest answer.

What the mock interview doesn’t measure, and what happens to your CV

NELO doesn’t measure

  • Your chances of being hired: no prediction, no score about you as a person.
  • Your accent, your voice, your emotions or your personality.
  • What it cannot check: it describes what you said, not who you are.

Your CV

  • Name, age, contact details and sensitive mentions are removed on your iPhone before anything is sent. You see the exact text that leaves.
  • Audio is never recorded. Only the transcript is used for the report.
  • No ads, no trackers. Deleting your account from the app erases everything, including at the voice provider.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI mock interview really free, with no card?

Yes, to start: no payment method is asked for. Your CV and its review, job ads, one CV ↔ job match and a 2-minute “Introduce yourself” with report are free. Full mock interviews are part of Premium, from €7.99 a week.

How is it different from a ChatGPT prompt or a question bank?

With a ChatGPT prompt, you exchange in writing, with no scoring rubric. A question bank gives you the same questions as everyone else, without your CV or the job ad. NELO runs a spoken conversation built on your CV and the job ad, with follow-ups, then a report that quotes your sentences.

My interview is tomorrow: is one mock interview enough?

A 10-minute targeted mock interview tonight makes you say each key answer once, and the report shows the weakest one. Redo it in two minutes. Starting three days before is still best.

Can I practise an interview in French?

Yes. Each recruiter has a native voice in English and French, and the report is written in the language of the interview.

What happens to my CV during the mock interview?

It is anonymised on your iPhone before anything is sent: name, age, address, phone, email and sensitive mentions are removed and never stored. Only your first name is kept so the recruiter can address you.

Is the recruiter a real person?

No. The recruiters are characters driven by AI, with a synthetic voice. Each has their own personality and follows an interview plan prepared from your CV and the job ad.

Does NELO work on Android or on a computer?

Not yet. NELO is an iPhone app, running on iOS 26 or later.

Rehearse your next interview tonight

Import your CV, add the job ad, talk for ten minutes. By tomorrow morning you’ll know what to say differently.
